What exactly is secondary glazing?

Secondary glazing is the installation of a second pane of glass inside your existing window. It creates a sealed air gap between the original window and the new inner pane — and that gap is what blocks noise and reduces heat loss. The existing window stays exactly as it is.

Do I have to replace my windows to get the benefit?

No. That’s the main reason people choose secondary glazing. You keep your existing windows — including period sash or casement windows — and gain most of the benefits of replacing them, at a fraction of the cost and disruption.

How much noise reduction can I actually expect?

Most projects deliver dramatic noise reduction — typically enough that traffic, nightlife and street noise no longer interrupts sleep or conversation. We’ll discuss your exact situation on the free survey and specify the system for the noise you’re dealing with.

Will it make the room warmer?

Yes — almost always noticeably so. The trapped air gap behaves like an extra layer of insulation on what’s usually the coldest part of the room. Many clients report cutting heating use in the first winter after installation.

Is it suitable for listed or period buildings?

Yes — it’s actually one of the best options for protected structures. Nothing about the external appearance of the building changes, and the install is fully reversible. We’ve worked on Georgian and Victorian properties, hotels in heritage buildings, and government buildings.

Do you serve my area?

Yes. We have bases in Kildare and Galway and we serve the entire Republic of Ireland — every county, no travel surcharges.

Can I still open and clean my original window?

Yes — the secondary glazing is built with hinged, lift-out or slider opening options so you can still ventilate, clean and access the original window whenever you want.

Are your fly screens just imported products?

No. In 1995 we became the first Irish company to design, patent and produce our own fly screen range and accessories. The systems are still designed and manufactured by us today specifically for Irish windows and Irish conditions.

What about commercial kitchens and food businesses?

Our heavy-duty door fly screens were originally developed specifically for the food sector, and they’re still our most popular commercial product. They’re HACCP-friendly and built to take real daily traffic.
